GuestHello, I need advice.
On the FT897, every time I turned off the station, the MIC GAIN of both SSB and FM started to reset to minimum. After setting, it holds the values until the station is switched off again.
It's annoying, because if I forget it, so I don't have enough power.
I searched the net, whether the FT897 has a battery to back up the settings in the main menu, but I couldn't find anything similar. Other settings hold.terabit
MemberOn 99% it will be necessary to replace the EEPROM memory, apparently “odisli” memory locations where the specified settings are saved.

GuestThanks for advice. At least I physically checked the EEPROM, but there is no impurity, or signs of damage. It will probably have to be replaced, but it's still weird, that only FM and SSB MIC GAIN are deleted and other settings are kept.

MemberVisually, you can't see anything on that eeprom, it should be type 24LC128. The fault will be in the memory matrix in the chip, the integration will have to be selected, read the data from it via the programmer and burn the new ones(there are also other service settings in that memory that cannot be changed). When you create a new integration, you set new data( FM SSB mic gain) and it should work.

GuestYear, I understand, that no such problem can be seen visually, but I saw a video with FT897, where they had a similar problem with saving settings and the EEPROM had bad connections to the flatbed and one resistor was missing. And I also wanted to check the degree of pollution inside, since the table under the superstructure with TRX is also used for tinkering, and here and there some of the wire from the braiding of the coax flies off to who knows where 🙂 .
I won't change it, because I don't have a micro soldering iron or software for that.
I know there is also a service menu, except for the classical one.
I've been in it before, but of course I didn't change anything there.
I didn't want to throw away the factory settings.Leo

GuestHi Miro, thank you for the offer 🙂 . So if I need it, I'll get back to you.
I haven't dealt with it yet.Anonymous
GuestI figured, that when I set both SSB and FM mic gain to half level, so on 50, so it holds even after turning off the TRX. Since then, it has been holding for the time being. Before, I had gains of approx 65 and after turning the station off and on it was always FM 1 a SSB 21.
So I really don't know where the problem was…?terabit
MemberAfter all, it will only be the eeprom, a smaller number takes up a smaller memory space, and if you enter a smaller number, it does not affect the bad sector.
