In the December issue of RÁDIÓTEWCHNIKA (magazine of Hungarian radio amateurs) An interesting article on the construction of the Atu2012 automatic tuner was published: http://www.radiovilag.hu/images/558-560o12.pdf The tuner connection is based on the UA3GDW connection, which was also published in the aforementioned magazine RT06/2011 under the designation "ANT-09“, the change in the analog part is minimal, practically only the circuit board was designed new, but the control part of the tuner is completely new and modern construction elements were used (SMD, newer PIC, display….)
Tuner cannot be adjusted directly from TCVR, tuned using buttons and an encoder. Setting is possible in 3 modes: manual tuning, automatic and memory mode.
If interested, printed circuit boards can be ordered from the authors: Ede HA5BWW and Pali HA7HQ at atu2012.tuner@gmail.com There is an already programmed processor soldered on the control board.
The whole device can be built for about €100, ready-made can be purchased from the authors (indicative price €150), the parts are not critical, are commonly available except capacitors in tuning branch C22-C29, which should be high-quality mica min. na 500V. The coils are self-supporting from CuZZ wire 1,3 mm per diameter 15 mm.
