As previously announced, on 10.12.2005 t. j. on Saturday, the first meeting of radio amateurs took place in the pension Drozdovo, which is located in the district of Žarnovica, between Nova Banská and the village of Veľká Lehota. The mentioned guesthouse is located at an altitude of approx. 700 m above sea level. m., so the participants were greeted by a real winter, snow-covered scenery in sunny weather. The first participants of the meeting arrived around eight in the morning, among them of course the people from Košice - OM8AQ with a complete radio amateur family, others arrived during the day and in the evening.
The meeting was opened by Laco - OM5LD, who on behalf of the organizers - OM5KP and OM5NS - welcomed everyone and at the same time invited them to the next meeting in Drozdov, which will be held in October next year. This new definitive term was welcomed by the majority of participants. In the winter months, the skiing season takes place in this region, and meetings at the Drozdovo guesthouse could be seriously threatened by this fact due to capacity reasons. So next time in October, when you can come across, among other things, autumn oak trees or a good burčiak.
When the weather is nice, there is a great opportunity for hiking, which can end, for example, at the top of the nearby Veľké Inovec at an altitude of 901 m above sea level. m., where there is also a nice and well-known cottage for tourists. The meeting itself was marked by unceasing debates on various topics, thanks to Jar OM1II, it was possible to hear qualified information about the ARES rescue system, or about the recent expedition to the island of Mauritius, which was introduced to those present by its direct participant - Jozef OM5AW.
Thanks to the projection equipment brought, it was possible to see documents from other amateur events or contests, club or private. The company AWAS exhibited radio amateur technology here, during the meeting KV equipment was available, as well as QRP equipment OM3TY, which could also be tried.
Since excellent goulash at an unbeatable price and other goodies in solid or liquid form were served during the meeting, while the serving staff was buzzing like bees, there was nothing wrong with it, at least according to the majority of those present.
Now some numbers from the meeting: 57 licensed radio amateurs and 15 family members took part, a total of 72 participants. 37 participants used the possibility of accommodation from Saturday to Sunday. The capacity of the boarding house is 100 places for sitting, 65 places for accommodation. The guesthouse has its own kitchen and a large free parking lot for 120 vehicles. The premises and facilities are at a solid hotel level. That's why Drozdovo will be the place to be in the future.
