    FT-757 or TS-130V?

Hello everyone. I have a Yaesu FT 757GX and a Kenwood TS 130V. I would like to sell one of these TCVRs. Surely someone on this discussion forum has experience with the mentioned radios and can help me with this mess by answering the question which one??? Of course, I would like to keep the better one. The fact that the TS only has 20W doesn't bother me - I have a PA, and that it can't do 160m also doesn't matter because my antenna for the top band doesn't tune anyway. I am interested in serious information resulting from measurements of the parameters of the mentioned devices and subjective impressions and opinions. Surely someone will advise me on how to get rid of them.both, but I don't want to be completely cut off from activity on the bands. Thanks for all serious replies which I kindly ask you to address exclusively to the mailbox ok1zh/at/seznam.cz. It's just because my memory works successfully 🙄 and I will always find it in the mailbox. 😀

If you want the 'best', I would personally try to measure those devices and keep the one that performs better. (spectrum purity, glitches in CW, better filters or durability ...)

I assume that none of the devices has a 'killer' feature that is so important that it would strongly favor that device. And since I see both are from the same period, moral wear will also be comparable.

Maybe I'm not answering your question as you imagine, but your question has a decent chance of turning into a 'flame war' among fans of individual brands.

Thank you for the opinion. Just because these radios seem to be roughly at the same level, I have a limited choice. FT has some, of course, but for me not so important additional functions, but for example, compared to TS, it does not have the option of additional filtering. “Sensitivity” is the same for both, according to the manual. The possibility of serious measurement of specific pieces would probably exceed my financial possibilities and I think that given the age and price range in which these radios operate, it would not be a very purposeful expenditure of money. I know that TCVRs differ from piece to piece, but hopefully not so much that I couldn't get a rough picture because certainly someone has done these measurements in the past. And I certainly wouldn't want to provoke a war between the supporters of individual brands, EVEN THOUGH I might learn things that I didn't even want to - hi. But take that as a joke. 😆 Thank you once again 73+GL-Lada. nemohl udelat zhruba obrazek, protoze urcite uz nekdo tato mereni v drivejsi dobe provadel.A uz vubec bych nechtel vyprovokovat valku mezi zastanci jednotlivych znacek,I KDYZ bych se pak mohl dozvedet veci, ktere jsem ani nechtel-hi.Ale to ber jako srandu. 😆 Dekuju jeste jednou 73+GL-Lada.

I mentioned it because at most amateur radio meetings there is such an option. I don't know the price, but I didn't get the impression that it would be very expensive if you have it measured at such a meeting.

As for measurements, such measurements can be found online. I don't know if for such old devices, but there is always a nice flamewar behind it 😉 But personally, I am curious what other answers you will get.

Sell both radios, save a few crowns and buy something new.

Thanks for the answers. Dusane, I also thought about it, maybe the proceeds from both would be enough for one newer, but where is it written that new means better, everything is sewn with a hot needle these days. These are not any extraordinary radios, but I have them tested and they have never let me down. Well, I will have to sleep on it properly and we will see. Thanks and good night - Lada.

Lado, if you are on brands you have a choice. For transmitting, FT757 is better because it does what TS130 cannot.

ok2suk: as written, none of the devices has such a function that would favor it over the other.

When you take how many of those super features you use. And you realize that there are really only a few that are worth something and even those are in most devices.

You won't find such answers on Slovak forums very often. People today prefer cheap portable 'car radios' like ft857, 897, which flood the market. Cheap new doesn't necessarily mean better than old.

I owned the FT-757GXI (first version) for a long time. Operation with the MD-1 desk microphone was flawless. I didn't use it at the time, but among the interesting features, this device has the option of being controlled via CAT, it allows the connection of a band decoder, for example, for switching the final stage or antennas.

However, the sensitivity was weaker, as was the resistance.

I had the IC-706MKI and the FT-857 from cheaper, more modern devices. I am currently using the FT-1000MP (filtered). The difference between a top device and an ordinary one is significant, even if the 1000MP is not a transceiver from recent years.

V prípade, že by to mal byť transceiver pre SSB prevádzku s občasným contestigom a DX prevádzkou, vybral by som si z možných FT-757.

In terms of sensitivity and durability, I preferred Kenwood. I'm not even talking about whether he would load filters there. Honza wrote that he doesn't even use "all" functions of these standard devices, let alone the use of CAT. Personally, I wouldn't mix a classic with a computer, but it's everyone's personal choice.

Thanks to everyone for your opinions and advice. As one anonymous wrote that I don't see much of it on the SK forums, it's not so true. Here, what I mean by KV is completely different from OK or I just can't search. There I didn't find anything similar to here, just some kind of "one man show" where only one person answered all the questions and I don't need it. At the moment it's about 60:40 KNWD. Thanks once again 73a GL vsem.Lada.

Hello, I use this Kenwood... I think it's a decent radio and quite sensitive, even if it sometimes annoys me... I don't know what YAESU is like. It's a radio that appealed to me very much and the Kenwood is interesting. I work well with it even through digi mods. My opinion... Nice evening. Martin
