If you have also been looking for a suitable source for amateur devices lately, I can recommend this one:

      https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3A-5A-8-5A-10A-12-5A-16-5A-20A-30A-Lighting-Transformers-AC220V-to-DC/32801129080.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.32cf4c4dyVRhnM

It doesn't hum, it allegedly has short circuit protection (I haven't tested it) and after being placed in this box, I think it is quite suitable:

      https://www.profimax.sk/suciastky/plastovy-program-krabicky/krabicky/krabicka-k6-montazna-s-potlacou

      I have the 12.5A version...

Noro, don't experiment with the power supply, I have tested the DM-330MV - ALINCO. It doesn't hum, it doesn't make noise and reliably delivers maximum power for a long time.

Enclosing a power supply where a certain type of cooling is expected into a plastic box is a great idea 😉 Check the fuse height for damages.
The power supply has 150W, I estimate the efficiency at about 80% at half load, math doesn't lie, the box must melt already at 5A continuous load 🙂

Well, I don't know, but 12×5 is 60W, if the efficiency is 80%, as you say, then 12W won't melt this box, but I'll put some holes for a small fan if needed.

I think that exposed 220V contacts can be even more dangerous, especially for my child.

Do you think that if he could, the Chinese wouldn't save on a metal box?
Another thing is the lifespan of components, especially electrolytes.

Electrolytes can be replaced, they are not expensive. The lifespan of everything today seems to be five minutes if we stretch it a bit.

I understand the affinity for quality, but I wanted to recommend something affordable for everyone. The source that Stefan recommends is certainly okay, but that price!

But the price of TRCV 🙂 saved my TS-480 after a lightning strike somewhere very close (the antenna was connected) and the repair of the power supply cost only 20€ 🙂

Either I ride in a Mercedes or a Ticu... it's up to you... 😉

The comment was not about the quality of electrolytes, but that increased temperature in a closed box means a faster end for the electrolyte.
Another thing is safety, fire or explosion of the radio due to a fault in such a needlessly enclosed power supply. The power supply is not a place where it is worth saving at any cost.

How do you cover the 220V contacts?

Friend, try to study something about the basics of protection against the effects of electric current. One beautiful day we could lose your irreplaceable contributions. Electricity is a good servant, but a bad master. It’s better to buy a ready-made factory-made power supply with certification and avoid experiments with voltages higher than 12V.

In our market, there is a good power supply (I use two) from QJE type PS-30SWI for 67 Euro. My experiences: it doesn't interfere, can provide 25A continuously, it's small. After about 1.5 years, I changed the fan – it started to be noisy. Maximum satisfaction. Don't take it as an advertisement, I'm just sharing my experiences.

Hello Norko, people are mean to you, but don't take it to heart. The mistake is that you asked the question incorrectly. The relevant standard recognizes more options. One of them is protection by positioning. This means that if you place the mentioned contacts at a height of 3 meters, it is essentially good. But for safety, it's good to put this device in a metal cage and properly ground it. And for peace of mind, you should call an inspection technician who will review the device for you, and if you have followed the standard, he will issue you a review report that authorizes you to use this device reliably and safely.to use.

Dusan, people are not bad just to me.

I put the source in that plastic box, drilled 12 holes and everything is fine.
For now. The future is not okay for anyone. Not even for experts in electric shock protection.

Raz som si ako poctiva dusa nechal homologovat modem. Prisiel technik, pozrel na modem a zasuvku, Vystavil mi ucet na 800Skk a odisiel.

P.S.: You in the Czech Republic have some study complex, or what... you should study it.

For example, this is how OM0ODB is solved: https://sites.google.com/site/om1aeg/prevadzac-om0odb

The problem is that based on the price you try to use something intended for powering lights to power trx. When powering lights, it is considered a fixed installation, often out of reach of 'laymen' and it should be installed by a person with at least part 21 and finally it should be checked by a person with part 24 😉.

Things like efficiency, effectiveness, reliability, resistance to induced RF from trx and antennas, RFI, protection are probably 'foreign words'.

Correctly induced RF from tx with an unmatched antenna using source wires as part of the antenna can easily 'set' some SNZ from 13V to 19V with corresponding consequences for trx 😉.

That source in that converter looks similar to mine, just not in a plastic box.

I can't see it well, but it looks like it is protected by grounding?

But I don't have the option to place it on top of Kamzík so that no one can reach it.
The funny thing is that some sources intended for powering trx hum, and mine does not.

I don't really like that solution in the box, but still no one has said how to cleverly cover those contacts, and probably no one will.

Tono, if I cover it with a metal sheet and the phase wire accidentally loosens (it's under the screw) and touches the sheet, who will take responsibility for any death in the family?
This also applies to the solution of the Czech amateur see above.
