Jan Szarowski OK2BFH SK

We greet all friends with grief in our souls, friends, acquaintances and fans of amateur radio sports, that Jan Szarowski OK2BFH left us tonight. He left suddenly at an age 78 let.

Jenda was a radio amateur in body and soul, he was certainly a pioneer of VHF operation in northern Moravia. He was a very technically proficient but no less skilled operator. DXs and VHF contests were closest to him. Many certainly remember his brand broadcasting almost continuously from the late 70's to the year 2005 from Lysá Hora, JN99FN, the highest mountains in the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy. First from the tent in the garden of the weather station, also from Prague V3S standing at the top all winter, later from the ski hut, where the cottage administrator Josef OK2BLE (SK 2005) have built and actively used VHF workplaces since 144 Mhz to po 24 Ghz. Jend still holds national DX records at 144 Mhz, 5,7 a 10 Ghz, for his achievements at the VHF he was awarded the title of Merited Master of Sports. He was active in several groups, random OK2KAU from Orlová, OK2KIS in Karviná, OK2KFA in Šenov or OK2KFM from Frýdek-Místek. His experience is still practically used in the OL9W race in the races, which he co - founded with his brother Ed OK2BPR and within a year 2005 also actively represented. In 2005 after SK OK2BLE and the liquidation of the workplace on Lysá Hora, he and his friends built a station on Velká Čantoryja, JN99JQ, and from there until the last days he watched the conditions and did DXs.

For all of us, who we knew Jenda OK2BFH personally, the legend has passed.

Alex OK2VYG
