OM3WZ/OM3WCF, SK

Another prominent personality has gone to the amateur radio sky. Janko Slivka OM3WZ/OM3WCF for a certain period he was the chairman of the radio club OM3VSZ until the year 2003.
In my life, I have never met a radio amateur more connected to nature and sports. He was able to combine a hobby ,which most people associate with mega hours spent sitting in front of the radio with movement. The guy left, whose word was more than 100 page contract. He fulfilled what he promised.

For him, work on VHF. It is this band that essentially favors participation from a high effective height. Jan's knowledge of the Košice area proved to be key here. Kojšovská hoľa was his greatest love. The joy for him was not the total of points ,but the way to them. When he could spend the weekend in the mountains with the radio, he was in seventh heaven. Construction of antennas, mast anchoring. reviving the whole setup was a moment, when the year of birth was just a number. He was able to cement the team around him.
Jano was a key figure in this. The bicycle was one of his greatest passions, an athlete in body and soul. However, try v 55 years to run a half marathon for 01:45 .

He never bragged about anything, he was always there when help was needed. No unnecessary talk. Jano was a passionate telegrapher ,but who was learning to use the most modern HW and SW literally on the fly.
He was always planning something new and there was always another goal on the horizon. Just like a marathon, bit by bit he kept moving forward. Janci, we will miss you
