1. Make a backup of your channel memory and settings, because they will be deleted after the mandatory reset of the radio station.
2. Remove all connectors from the source, antennas.
3. Unscrew 8 screws from the cover along the edge.
4. Remove the cover and observe the speaker wire.
5. Pull out the speaker plug.
6. Locate the microprocessor (with a crystal on it) in the corner of the radio.
7. To the left of the microprocessor are eight SMD jumpers on the edge of the circuit board.
8. FT-7800E (European model), on the second jumper (from the front) R1289 is installed, select it to extend the transmission range up to 136-174MHz, 420-470MHz.
9. Place the jumper in the third position from the front of the R1290, to preserve the automatic bounce of the converter (and the increased frequency range still remained)
10. Connect the speaker cable and close the radio.
11. Connect power to the radio.
12. Press the button [MHz (PRI)] and turn on the radio.
13. Turn the carousel switch to F-5 “ALLRST” for full reset and confirm at least 500ms by holding the button [BAND (SET)]
14. The radio is now reset and ready for use.
15. Load the channel memories back into the computer
16. The edit is now complete.

This operation is of course at your own risk and will void the warranty.
