As I did ”world” record in the subregion
The idea of participating in at least some way in the 1st subregion has been gnawing at me for a long time. Because “preparing for exams”, I used the opportunity to broadcast under the supervision of an amateur – a to otca OM3WAO, who let go of the two-meter and himself concentrated only on the seventy.
A week before the contest, the father announces: “DL7km-ka to seventy lost profit and does not even have a circuit!”. It is placed on a common mast with the same type of antenna at 2m. What to do? Try to climb a steep roof in winter? Or put a prepared yagi on a makeshift mast?
The weather was beautiful and all “fools” they climb on the roof again. We lower the mast, we measure, we look around… The antenna has a circuit…. We will tighten the joints, we will insulate, we will raise the mast – a trifle for an hour.
On Wednesday, the sky is still like from the commercial. But the first signs indicate, that I will have to quickly take some preparation from an advertisement against the flu. I'm already grinding my teeth in the evening. My head still flashes, that I will definitely be put down by a muscle in a sled…
But Thursday is bad. I was talking to myself on Friday, that it couldn't be worse. I guess – can! On Saturday, I “throat stuck”, I can't lift my head… But my desire for contesting is greater! Half an hour before the contest everything seems to be ready (pardon – except for me): And we have it over with, DL7KM On a hand -controlled mast and laptop with a running locator.
At three o'clock our time, I start searching for stations. Absolute silence. That I had set my watch wrong? Not, on 144.339 is at the noise limit of the 9A7D from the JN95CI. That would have been 450 km… Still to do it. Unfortunately, it didn't work. But where are the others??
All signals barely move the S-meter. According to the ohmmeter, the antenna is OK. We are transferring cables to an older device. It's not better there either. He will beat me! Antenna! But the converters are doing well. We return to the 751, I search the zone…. No one anywhere…
I'm taking an hour break, and in a mood below absolute zero “I'm sniffing” TV. He won't give it to me – at least one, I really have to make at least one QSO! I return to the device and find HA6KVC/P. I cancel: “Oscar Mexico Three Whisky Alfa Oscar” and he reacts! In a few seconds the QSO is home…
After another pause I find a weak HA5KDQ/P signal. Almost exactly at this frequency, OM3KDX/P works very well – I pull it down a little further and get a serial number 10. Na to, that the contest has been running for more than two and a half hours is not enough.
I returned to the facility twice that evening and once on Sunday, but I haven't made any more QSOs. The possibilities for why are as follows: nobody wanted to go to the heights because of the deteriorating weather, Homegrown folks preferred the ARRL DX Contest, VHF radio amateurs have died out or I'm as deaf as a log…. Hey people, where were you?
Underlined and summed up: 283 points. One of you recorded an ISS crew, that overcome this result (understand to get less points) competitors will have an extremely difficult time… I made, what was possible and what was in my power, unfortunately it couldn't have been better – me. Maybe next time…
