FT-817 TX extension

FT-817 frequency range extension

Proven and tested at my home.

1. Disconnect all power supplies. (flashlight and external power connection.)
2. Unscrew 14 screws holding the top and bottom covers to the TCVR. No need 2 hp on the player.

3. Remove the flashlight case cover.

4. Remove the cover. At the bottom cover, pay attention to the latch for closing the battery cover, there are two springs, which will surely fly to the ground. At the top of the cover, carefully pull out the cable with the connector connecting the speaker. The PCB connector on the TCVR body is tiny and delicate for rough handling, as well as everything else on this TRX.

5. Carefully lift the four plastic tabs holding the front panel and pull the front panel forward.
6. Disconnect the ribbon cable connecting the front panel to the device. To release the connector, carefully lift the dark brown part of the connector on the printed circuit board by approx 90 degrees up and the tape guide is pulled out slightly.

7. See from the back of the panel above the VFO button, to the left of the center are the connecting pads on the printed circuit board. Join the first four surfaces and disconnect the fifth. The final state should be first 4 connected and others 5 disconnected.

8. Fold the TCVR again and reset the CPU by pressing “F” at the same time “V/M” and simultaneously “PWR” buttons.
This will extend the frequency range to TX in the HF bands, VHF and VHF. Specifically, as follows:1,8 MHz to 56 MHz
140 MHz to 154 MHz420 MHz to 470 MHz.
