Jamboree on the Air JOTA 2023

Jamboree on the-Air or JOTA is the largest scouting event in the world. It takes place every year on the third full weekend of October (20. – 22. 10. 2023). JOTA uses amateur radio to connect scouts and radio amateurs all over the world, across the country and in your own community.

The event is supported by many local radio amateur clubs and individual operators. JOTA starts on Friday and ends on Sunday, but no official hours of operation are set, so you have the whole weekend to establish JOTA connections.

Here are the event rules:

  • All radio operators must operate their stations strictly in accordance with the regulations.
  • Stations should try to call each other “CQ Jamboree” or “CQ SOMETHING”, or by answering other stations broadcasting this call.
  • Any authorized amateur radio frequency may be used. It is recommended to use scout frequencies, at least to begin with. Don't forget, that the radio station has the possibility of changing the frequency, so stay away from active networks and competitors.
  • Any amateur mode of operation can be used, for example CW, SSB, prostitute, SSTV, FM a satelit. The more modes will be in operation, the more interesting the event will be for scouts.
  • JOTA is not a competition. The idea is to make contact with other scout stations and allow as many scouts as possible to talk to other scouts and learn about, who they are and what they do. You might want to think about it, that instead of counting QSOs you will count the scouts on both sides of the QSO!
