Conditions of the OK-OM DX Contest

  1. Date of the race: The second full weekend in November, UTC 1200 Saturday – 1200 Sunday
    (13.-14. 11. 2010, 12.-13. 11. 2011)
  2. Type of operation: CW
  3. Bands: 1.8 to 28 MHz, outside the WARC band
  4. category:
    1. One operator – all bands, power to 1500 W (SOAB HP)
    2. One operator – all bands, power to 100 W (SOAB LP)
    3. One operator – one band, power to 1500 W (SOSB HP)
    4. One operator – one band, power to 100 W (SOSB LP)
    5. One operator – QRP (power to 5 W, only all bands)
    6. Multiple operators, one transmitter (MS) – all bands, performance according to permitting conditions
    7. Audience (SWL)

The use of a DX cluster is allowed in all categories. One operator can log in to more than one category and) – e) (thus e.g.. at the same time SOAB, SO SB 20m a SO SB 80m). Pro kategorii MS: the shortest working time on one band is 10 minutes. A quick band change to obtain a new multiplier is allowed (i.e.. when establishing a connection in band A, it is possible to make a multiplier in band B and return to band A).

  5. Establishing a QSO: OK / OL / OM establish connections only with stations outside OK / OL / OM. Stations outside OK / OL / OM only establish connections with OK / OL / OM stations. A connection to one station is valid only once on each band.
  6. Transmitted code: OK / OL / OM: RST + district emblem (e.g. 599 BPZ). Stations outside OK / OL / OM: RST + starting serial number of the connection 001.
  7. Multipliers: OK / OL / OM: WPX prefixes on each band separately. Stations outside OK / OL / OM: districts in each zone separately.
  8. Body za QSO: OK / OL / OM: ME = 1 that, I treat = 3 body, EU stations: 1 that, stations outside the EU: 3 body.
  9. Result: The total result is the product of the total number of points and the total number of multipliers.
  10. Rules for students: Listeners can count each station on each band only once. For each duly recorded QSO (date, UTC, zone, station sign, sent competition code and mark of the opposite station) on each band is counted 1 that (the station you are listening to is on the same continent, as a listener), resp. 3 body (the station you are listening to is on another continent, than the listener). Therefore, if both transmitted codes are recorded, these are two separate records and points are counted for both stations, each on a separate line in the competition diary, including point evaluation and marking of possible multiplier – in this case, it is possible to obtain up to 4 body (3+1) and up to 2 multipliers. SWL from OK and OM count points for listening to all stations, other SWL only points for listening to OK / OL / OM stations. Multipliers for SWL from OK and OM are station prefixes outside OK / OL / OM and OK / OL / OM station districts regardless of bands. Multipliers for SWL outside the OK and OM territories are OK / OL / OM station districts in each band separately.
  11. Diaries: All logs must be sent to 1. 12. of the year.I. electronic diaries
    1. All participants, who use a computer to create a journal and want to be included in the evaluation, send the log as a data file (files).
    2. The recommended journal format is Cabrillo, ADIF logs are inappropriate.
    3. All logs must contain this information for each QSO: date, UTC, zone, counter station sign, transmitted code, received code. Transmitted code (period) it is not necessary to write for each QSO, but it must be stated in the summary (pole SOAPBOX).
    4. Only one diary is sent at a time, even if the station logs in to more than one category.
    5. The categories are marked in the header of the Cabrillo file (possibly in the summary), a to into one line CATEGORY, behind, and separated by a comma (e.g. “CATEGORY: SINGLE-OP ALL HIGH, SINGLE-OP 10M HIGH”) – detailed instructions here.
    6. Recommended category designations:
      SINGLE-OP ALL HIGH
      SINGLE-OP 160M HIGH
      SINGLE-OP 80M HIGH
      SINGLE-OP 40M HIGH
      SINGLE-OP 20M HIGH
      SINGLE-OP 15M HIGH
      SINGLE-OP 10M HIGH
      SINGLE-OP ALL LOW

      CHECKLOG
    7. A summary should be included in each diary (for the Cabrillo format, the summary is part of a single file) and in addition to the categories should contain an email, operator name, address for written correspondence (e-mail is not enough), description of the device, performance used and a solemn declaration of compliance with the conditions of the race. If the log is sent on a floppy disk, a paper summary is also attached.
    8. File (files) should be named after the brand used in the plant, e.g. OL5Y.CBR (Cabrillo), OL5Y.DAT (N6 CHILDREN), OL5Y.ALL (CT), OL5Y.PRN (NA), OL5Y.LOG (SD) etc. Summary (not required when using the Cabrillo format) is named e.g.. OL5Y.SUM.
    9. Email for sending diaries: okomdx [at-sign] crk.cz, floppy disks at the OK-OM DX Contest, ČRK, P.O. Box 69, 113 27, Prague 1. We highly recommend sending diaries by e-mail – incoming emails will be confirmed automatically, senders will be kept informed of the evaluation process and will receive the result of their diary check.
    10. Please check before shipping, whether your diary contains all the necessary information (the received code is often missing) and don't forget to state the used one call sign in “Subject” news!
    11. Home WWW page: okomdx.crk.cz
    12. Programs directly supporting OK / OM DX Contest are:

We recommend using WPX settings in other journals (pro OK / OL / OM stations) or IARU HF Championship (mimo OK/OL/OM) – the electronic log does NOT have to have points and multipliers marked, nor the calculated total result.

    II. handwritten diaries

    1. All logs must contain this information for each QSO: date, UTC, zone, counter station sign, transmitted code, received code, body, new multiplier.
    2. Connection should be sorted chronological, regardless of the bands, possibly sorted first by individual zones and then chronologically there.
    3. Summary should be included in each journal and contain this information for each band: beginning QSO, Number of points, number of multipliers. It should also contain categories, in which the participant registers, description of the device, power used, name, address for written correspondence, e-mail and affidavit of compliance with the conditions of the race.
    4. Shipping address: OK-OM DX Contest, ČRK, P.O. Box 69, 113 27 Prague 1. Handwritten diaries can be scanned (take a picture with a digital camera) and send an email to okomdx [at-sign] crk.cz.

    III. clarification for listeners

    1. All logs must contain this information for each QSO: date, UTC, zone, the list of the station being listened to, sent code, counter station sign, body, new multiplier.
    2. Summary should be part of every diary (including electronic) and contain this information for each band: beginning QSO, Number of points, number of multipliers. It should also contain categories, in which the participant registers, description of the device, name, address for written correspondence, e-mail and affidavit of compliance with the conditions of the race.
    3. Furthermore, the conditions according to points I apply to student diaries. resp. II.
  12. Penalties: All QSOs, which contain an error (wrong brands, bad received codes) a QSO, which are not in the diary of the counter station, will not be counted. The same number of points obtained by counting the erroneous QSO will be deducted for each connection containing a mark error or which does not appear in the logbook of the opposite station. (not multipliers). 10% and more faulty connections may be the reason, that the station will not be included in the rating.
  13. Order, diplomas and awards: Participants are evaluated in three divisions – OK / OM, ME, DX. In each division, the order will be compiled according to individual categories. The diploma will be awarded to all stations located in the first half of each category. In addition, all stations will be drawn 10 participants, who receive a t-shirt with a race motif. In addition, winners of various plaque categories can receive, if he weighs at least 73 QSO in single-band category, 200 QSO v QRP nebo 400 QSO in the all-band category. One station can receive a maximum of one plaque in a given year, and that for categories, in which she achieved the most points. The list of plaques and relevant sponsors is given in the appendix to the race conditions and is continuously updated okomdx.crk.cz. There are still many categories, who are looking for their sponsors! If you are interested in helping to support this race, please contact the competition committee (e-mail: okomdxc [at-sign] crk.cz).
  14. Disqualification: Violation of race rules, unsportsmanlike conduct or counting large numbers of unverifiable connections may be sufficient grounds for disqualification.
  15. All decisions of the competition committee are final. The race is organized by the Czech Radio Club.
