Roman, OM3EI, announced a change regarding the magazine published by Ham Radio Print in OK under the name Radioamatér and in OM as Rádiožurnál. For financial reasons, the Czech Radio Club decided to publish Radioamatér magazine only in electronic form from 2017. The economic benefit is obvious, the costs of printing and distributing the magazine will be saved. The last paper edition of Radioamatér will be issue 6/2016. Electronic magazine
Considering that it is a joint Czech-Slovak magazine, which is published in OK under the name Radioamatér and in OM as Rádiožurnál, this step will also affect Slovak subscribers of Rádiožurnál. If Rádiožurnál were to continue to be published in paper form, it would mean, due to the lower number of copies, a large increase in the printing price. Moreover, publishing two different versions of the same magazine would also incur additional costs. For the reasons mentioned, there is no other option than to switch to the electronic version with Rádiožurnál as well from 2017.

The electronic magazine enables substantially higher actuality information, as it does not need to be printed and its distribution is a matter of minutes. This topicality will be further enhanced by the fact that it will be published with monthly periodicity, compared to today's two-month. The magazine will be in A4 format and all pages will be colorful. Various interactive elements will gradually be introduced, which will enrich the magazine with a new dimension. These are all advantages that an electronic magazine will bring.
From January 2017, both Rádiožurnál and Radioamatér will be published in an electronic version as a full-color monthly magazine. It will be possible to read it on a computer, tablet and mobile phone, it will be possible to search in it, not only in the current issue, but also in older issues.
There will also be a paper version
Many people called for the electronic version, requested it. They will all be satisfied. From discussions at personal meetings and from other responses, it became clear that there is a part of amateurs - both in OM and in OK - who for various reasons still prefer a paper magazine. Those reasons can be the unavailability of the Internet or a computer, the discomfort of reading from a monitor, the impossibility of reading a magazine in bed or on the toilet (hi), or simply the need to physically pick up a magazine and flip through it.
So that these radio amateurs are not left without their favorite magazine, from 2017, in addition to the electronic magazine, its paper version. While the electronic version will be a monthly magazine in A4 format, the paper version will be published 4 times a year and will be in A5 format, in which Rádiožurnál was published for the first five years of its creation.
The content of the paper edition will consist of selected articles from the electronic editions, in addition to the conditions and results of the race. Practically, the paper magazine will be a summary of articles from the previous three issues of the electronic magazine.
Time will tell if there will be interest in the paper form and if it will be sustained. But the effort is that everyone can have a magazine that is closer to them.
At this time, together with the Czech Radio Club, we are still fine-tuning the technical details. CRK members will have an electronic magazine as part of their membership, Rádiožurnál will continue to be for subscribers in Slovakia.
Subscription amount for individual versions:
€16 – only electronic version, A4 format, 12 issues per year
€20 – only paper version, A5 format, 4 issues per year
€24 – electronic and paper version
Dear friends, life and technical progress bring changes. The form of the magazine will change, but its content will remain at a high level and rank our magazine among the leading European amateur radio periodicals. Therefore, we believe that you will continue to favor us.
