The first integrated SDR transceiver with 500W power debuts at Hamvention 2025 in Dayton
Austin, Texas - May 16, 2025:
Company FlexRadio Systems. The leader in the high -performance solutions of software -defined radio (SDR), with pride notes the series Aurora ™ - a brand new HF/6m transceiver family that brings the first truly integrated 500W SDR transmitter in the world. The Aurora series creates a new category in amateur radio, removing the traditional boundaries between the transceiver, the amplifier, the tuner and the power supply.
Designed for modern operators, the Aurora series offers exceptional RF performance in an extremely compact design - utilizing cutting-edge technology with high efficiency that produces more power with less weight, lower temperature, and significantly reduced power requirements.
Efficiency like you've never experienced: 500W in one box

At the heart of Aurora is a revolutionary 500W transmitter module with efficiency up to 90% - which is a significant advancement over conventional MOSFETaLDMOS designs, which typically only achieve 40-60%. The result is less heat dissipation, a smaller heatsink, and a much lighter radio. The entire 500W transmitter fits in the same size as traditional 100W PA systems and runs cool enough to use the same heatsink design as the FLEX-8000 model.
This level of integration means that operators no longer need external amplifiers, tuners, or heavy AC/DC power supplies.
The Aurora series includes everything needed in one case - power supply, automatic antenna tuner, and 500W transmitter - with a standard IEC AC connector for voltage 80-264V.
Platform, not just a radio
The Aurora series is an exclusive platform of the company FlexRadio - its 500W transmitter is not an external amplifier and cannot be combined with other transceiversInstead, it is closely integrated with the architecture SmartSDR, allowing for precise control, intelligent load management, and a seamless user experience.
All Aurora models provide 500W on HF bands (200W on 6m) and include an integrated ATU. Versions are available M and non-M:
- AU-510 / AU-510M - models with one SCU
- AU-520 / AU-520M - models with two SCU
Innovation for every operator - FlexRadio Aurora

The Aurora series was designed with an emphasis on flexibility, making it ideal for various types of operators:
- Home stations will appreciate fewer cables and a cleaner layout.
- Portable operators will get an all-in-one solution with significantly reduced size and weight - a 500W radio that you can carry.
- DX expeditions can minimize logistics, fuel, and generator requirements.
- Remote operators will simplify station and infrastructure control thanks to all-in-one solutions.
Significant specifications and comparisons
Compared to a traditional 500W station with external components:
- Weight: Aurora weighs only 8 kg compared to 21 kg with equivalent setups.
- Power supply: Requires less than half of AC power consumption.
- Heat: Only creates 125W of waste heat - which is 84% less than conventional systems.
Aurora series transforms the meaning of 'QRO“ - for experienced DXers as well as new portable operators.
