Competition goal
Increase activity in the ether, strengthen the good name of radio amateurs, presentation and improvement of technical skills and knowledge of radio amateurs worldwide.
Date and time
Annually the third full weekend in January, from Saturday 12:00 UTC to Sunday 12:00 UTC.
In 2026: January 17 - 18.
Participants
Every radio amateur in the world who agrees to these competition conditions.
Bands
160 m, 80 m, 40 m, 20 m, 15 m and 10 m
in accordance with national licenses and band plans IARU regions.

YOTA: according to IARU definition – operator aged up to 25 years old including.
Maximum operating time: 12 hours.
Breaks must last at least 60 minutes.
A break longer than 60 minutes will not be counted into operating time.

Rules for Single Operator

Allowed band and mode switching without time restrictions
-
It is possible to transmit only one signal at a time
-
All activities (logging, tuning, antenna control, etc.) are performed exclusively by the operator
All made QSO must be recorded in the log, regardless of the category.
In the category SO3BAND QSO can be made on all bands, but the three bands with the highest scores will be automatically evaluated.
Rules for Multi Operator (MS)

Changing the RUN station band is allowed after 10 minutes from the first QSO on the new band
-
If the stay on the band is shorter, QSO have 0 points and do not count as multipliers
MULT station:
-
may work multipliers only on a different band than RUN
-
must not call CQ
-
if the QSO is not a multiplier, it has 0 points
In the MS category, they can transmit a maximum of two signals simultaneously
(one RUN, one MULT).
Power classes
-
QRP: up to 5 W
-
LP: up to 100 W
-
HP: more than 100 W

Competition contacts
Everyone can work with everyone.
Applies only the first QSO on the band with the station,
in MIX categories, one QSO in CW and one in SSB is allowed on the same band.
Exchanged code

HA stations: RS(T) + county abbreviation
-
Non-HA stations: RS(T) + sequential serial number
The list of county abbreviations is provided in Appendix 1.
Scoring

QSO with Hungarian station: 10 points
-
QSO on the same continent: 2 points

QSO on another continent: 5 points
/AM and /MM stations always 2 points a do not count as multipliers.
Multipliers

Counted on every band, regardless of mode.
Result = sum of points × sum of multipliers

Evaluation
Failure to comply with the rules or unsportsmanlike behavior may lead to disqualification.
Prohibited is e.g.:

broadcasting outside the permitted bands

QSO time adjustment

unverifiable multipliers
Prizes
Certificates will be available for download.
Winners may receive additional prizes according to sponsors.
Other provisions

The stations must be within 500 m

X-QSOs are not penalized

DX cluster and self-spotting are allowed

Other assistance (including AI) is prohibited
-
Stations competing for world/continental awards must provide audio recording
The committee's decision is final.
