- phone only – QRP, Low and High Power
- CW only - QRP, Low and High Power
- MIX – QRP, Low and High Power

Multi Op (multiple operators, one transmitter):
- only MIX
- the 10-minute rule applies when changing mode or band
- only one broadcast signal at the same time, it is not allowed to use the second device as a multiplier workplace
IARU HQ station:
- one broadcast signal in a given band and mode (160CW, 160FONE, 80CW, 80SSB, etc.)
- all stations participating in the operation of the HQ station must be located in the same ITU zone

Code exchanged:
- IARU HQ stations broadcast the report and the official abbreviation of the organization. The IARU Secretariat club station NU1AW counts as the HQ station. Members of the IARU Administrative Committee and the IARU Regional Executive give the abbreviation AC, respectively. R1, R2, R3
- other stations broadcast the report and the ITU zone number
- the completely changed code must be entered in the log book when it is valid QSO
Valid connection:
- one station can establish one connection in each mode and band, e.g. Valid QSO on 20m CW and 20m SSB
- competitors are obliged to comply with local regulations, even if they would put them at a disadvantage compared to other competitors
- self-spotting is prohibited, as is haggling over any kind of non-radio-amateur connection (e.g. by telephone or Internet)

Scoring:
- connection in own ITU zone, as well as HQ station or IARU representative is evaluated with 1 point
- a connection within one ITU zone, but to a different continent, is evaluated with 1 point
- a connection within one's own continent, but another ITU zone, is evaluated with 3 points
- a connection to another continent and another ITU zone at the same time is evaluated with 5 points
Multipliers:
- the total number of ITU zones worked plus the number of HQ stations from each band (not mode). IARU officials represent four possible multipliers.
- HQ stations and IARU representatives do not pay as zone multipliers

The total number of points is determined by the number of points for connections and the number of multipliers
