There are three LEDs and two buttons on the front panel. LEDs (green, yellow and red) are used as a simple power meter and PSV. The buttons have two meanings, the first when tapped (PWR and by-pass) and the second when held (tune and info).
T1 is a truly universal ATU that allows you to connect different antennas, such as dipoles, verticals or directional antennas, as well as RW or LW antennas. The capacity and inductance in the L-cell is controlled by the electronics. The capacitor capacity is variable from 0 to 1300pF in 128 steps and the inductance from 0 to 7.5uH also in 128 steps.
The ATU strives to achieve a PSV of 1.0:1 - not like other tuners that stop tuning after reaching 1.5:1. It is also not necessary to switch from SSB to CW in order for the tuner to tune. Most L-cell settings are stored in the EEPROM, which achieves a tuning time of one or two seconds. If the setting is not in memory, the tuning time varies from two to eight seconds. During tuning, the current consumption is approx. 20 mA.
The Elecraft T1 ATU is an ideal complement to various lower power transceivers, for example IC-703, Argonaut, SG-202 or FT-817.

The latter comes with the T1-FT817 adapter. After connecting TCVR with the ATU, the built-in converter sends information about the selected band to the ATU. This speeds up the tuning process even more. In the future, Elecraft is also preparing such adapters for other brands of equipment.
The ATU T1 is sold as a complete and set-up product for 9, or as a kit with a printed circuit board for 5. The T1-FT817 adapter costs .
