Members of the Czech Radio Club, in cooperation with the Society of Friends of Mongolia, are preparing the first Czech amateur radio expedition to Mongolia. This expedition should be carried out on the basis of the negotiations of the international conference held in 2005 in Prague (on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of mutual diplomatic relations) and should also follow up on the celebrations of the 800th anniversary of the founding of the unified Mongolian state in 2006.
It is a traveling expedition following the traces of the participation of Czechoslovak experts in various regions of Mongolia, where they participated in its economic development. Amateur radio connections will be established from these places, for which the so-called QSL tickets - postcards confirming the connections made. During the month-long operation of the expedition, it is assumed that at least twenty thousand connections will be established, and thus people on all continents will be informed about the economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
We are currently cooperating with the Mongolian radio amateur organization and the Embassy of Mongolia in the Czech Republic, which helped us in obtaining a license with a special call sign JT800OK, symbolizing the significance of this anniversary.
A total of four radio amateurs from the Czech Republic will take part in the expedition, two of them from southern Bohemia - namely Josef Mikšátko and Zdeněk Malkovský from Dráchov. Possible entrances to Radio Faktor are also planned in the expedition program so that the listening public can be informed about the progress and partial results of this expedition. The expedition departs from Prague on September 7 and will operate in Mongolia for 1 month. After its completion, background materials will be processed, on the basis of which the public will become familiar with its overall results.
