Rok 2008 priniesol do série Short Listening Period (SLP) contestov množstvo napínavých momentov a skvelých výsledkov poslucháčov z rôznych krajín. Po ôsmych etapách je jasné, že medzi SWL operators had a real fight not only for points, but also for prestige.
The final round, which took place on 25-26 October 2008, closed this season in style and decided the final standings.
The winner of the entire series was Vladimir Ignatov, R3A-847, who, thanks to extremely stable performances and a fantastic result of 100,215 points in the last stage, secured the sovereign first place with a total gain of 255,569 points. Second place went to Bill Smith, W1-7897, with a very good year's worth of performances and a total of 170,118 points. The third place belongs to Jozef Marcincák, OM3-0001, who once again confirmed that Slovak SWL operators have something to say in the world competition - the total gain of 122,148 points says it all.
The best six results from eight stages were counted in the final ranking, which favored consistent and active participants. Excellent performances were also given by ONL3058, NL7403 and NL13181, who regularly scored points.
