New Caledonia
New Caledonia, a Pacific island paradise with a prefix FK, is among the popular and sought-after destinations of radio amateurs from all over the world. This French overseas territory is located in the Oceania region, approximately 1,200 km east of Australia, and belongs to ITU zone 32 a CQ zone 30. Thanks to its geographical location, it offers excellent conditions for DX operation, especially on the 10-20 meter bands, where signals from New Caledonia often reach strength even in Europe.
Active operators here are mainly represented by stations FK8IK, FK8DD, FK8HA whether FK8IF, which regularly appear in international competitions, such as CQ WW DX or WPX. For many DXers, the connection with FK is considered a rare "new one". In addition to supporting the technical education of young people, local radio amateurs are often involved in humanitarian activities and emergency communications during tropical storms. New Caledonia thus combines exoticism, technology and the spirit of international cooperation in the ether.
