The autumn part of the Short Listening Period (SLP) competition got into full swing during the weekend of September 14-15, 2013. The seventh stage brought an interesting revival at the top of the table and indicated that the fight for the overall championship in the year 2013 may not be definitively over yet.
After the dominance in the previous rounds, when Jan Mandos reigned unchallenged on the scoreboards, September brought a change in the position of the stage winner. Vladimir Ignatov (R3A-847) showed the best ears and the most patience this time. With an impressive score of 48,057 points, he not only won the seventh round, but sent a clear signal that he does not intend to give up the fight for the overall title. His performance in this stage was more than twice that of the nearest pursuer.

The previous winner of the competition, Jan Mandos (NL997), took second place this time. His score of 23,328 points is a solid standard, but in direct comparison with Ignatov in this round, he pulled the short end of the stick. Despite this, Mandos is likely to retain the lead in the interim standings thanks to a huge lead from the first half of the year, but Ignatov's finish makes the end of the season more attractive.
Sjuk Veenstra (NL6904) returned to third place with 8,880 points. Sjuk confirmed his belonging to the broader top and was able to significantly break away from the rest of the starting field.

Slovak amateur radio listeners will certainly be pleased with the stable performance of Jozef Marcinčák (OM3-0001). He took fourth place with a score of 3,440 points. Jozef maintains a balanced performance throughout the year, which ensures him valuable points in the overall table and strengthens his position as the best Slovak representative in this international competition.

Fifth place went to Marc Stinkens (ONL4638) with 2,320 points, closely followed by Johan Heus (NL9723) who scored 1,953 points. The table of the seventh stage is closed by Dušan Hanák (OK2-9329). He scored another 1,184 points after his debut in the previous round, confirming that his interest in the competition remains.
The seventh stage showed that even though the conditions on the tracks change with the arrival of autumn, the motivation of the competitors does not decrease. Attention now turns to the final rounds, which will definitively decide who will become the 2013 Listener King.
