The eighth stage of the SLP competition, which took place during the weekend of 26-27 October 2013, brought significant differences in individual performance SWL operators. While for the best this stage was an opportunity to confirm their long-term form, for others it was a chance to complete the score in the year-long evaluation. The results sheet shows that some participants took full advantage of this stage, with the deviations between individual starts in the previous rounds significantly affecting their position in the final standings.
The most outstanding performance was achieved by Vladimir Ignatov (R3A-847) with a score of 166,532 points, which was not only a commanding victory of the stage, but also his best performance of the season. Vladimir maintained a stable high level for a long time – the performances in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 7th stages are among the most consistent in the entire SLP 2013. The eighth stage only crowned his dominance, which resulted in a clear lead in the overall ranking with a result of 443,368 points. It is interesting that he reached zero in the first stage, but from the second stage he left nothing to chance and was among the best in every start.

Jozef Marcincák (OM3-0001) finished second in the 8th stage with a score of 39,446 points. His performances during the year were fluctuating - he missed some stages or got a zero in them, but if he started, the results were mostly above average. The eighth stage was his best of the year, helping him significantly improve his overall score to 96,673 points. Stable performances in SLP6 and SLP8, as well as a good result in the first stage, kept him in the top three of the season.
Third in stage 8, Sjuk Veenstra (NL6904), scored 27,378 points. His results during the year are typical for their balance - he reached 11-12 thousand points several times, while in the third stage he exceeded the 19 thousand mark. The eighth stage was his best of the season and significantly helped him in the overall ranking to the resulting 88,448 points.

Also worth mentioning is fourth in the eighth stage, Alex Gorbunov (US-Q-73), who scored 18,900 points – interestingly, it was his only rated round of the year. Despite only one start, he ended up with 18,900 points in the year-round results, which is an unusual but remarkable situation.
OK2-9329, ONL4638, DE2HUG or MA3031SWL were placed in the middle of the field, whose performance during the year was partial or interrupted. DE2HUG and ONL4638 in particular put in some good stages which pushed them into the middle of the table, but dropouts in some rounds cost them a better place.
In conclusion, it can be concluded that the eighth stage was decisive for several participants. R3A-847 in particular asserted its dominance, while other competitors took the last chance to improve their year-round scores. The competition showed once again that success in SLP is the result of consistent performances, not individual fluctuations.
