The CW Open is a race organized by the American club CWops (http://www.cwops.org/). The club currently has over 1,200 members and is dedicated to the promotion and support of CW telegraph operations. The race is open to all radio amateurs, CWops members and non-members alike, and this year's edition will take place on Saturday, August 31, 2013. It is a fast race where a "rate" of 100 can be achieved QSO/ hour It competes on all KV bands (160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 m); on bands WARC does not compete. The race is divided into three four-hour stages: 0000–0359 UTC, 1200–1559 UTC and 2000–2359 UTC. You can participate in one or more stages, each of which is evaluated separately. Logs must be sent from each stage separately.

Categories:
- HP = power according to permit conditions, 100 W or more
- LP = 100W or less
- QRP = 5 W or less
Only individuals compete, but teams can be formed (regardless of location; you can be on a team with e.g. US stations, etc.), with team members adding up points. The team competition is evaluated separately. package, skimmer and Reverse Beacon Network (RBN) are allowed!
Competition code
Connection number and name are sold (e.g. 8 PETR). Connections are numbered from 001 in each stage separately; leading zeros do not need to be used. RST it is not part of the competition code and therefore does not need to be broadcast.
Scoring and multipliers
1 QSO = 1 point, regardless of country, zone, band, etc. Every brand we work with for the first time is a multiplier, i.e. j. if we work e.g. with W1RM at 20m, W1RM is a multiplier. Another connection with this station on 15 m is no longer a multiplier.

Diplomas and Plaques (sponsored by ICOM America)
- Trophy for the winner of each stage
- Plaques for the winners of the HP, LP and QRP categories in each stage
- Trophy for the winner of several stages (combined)
- Plaques for winners of HP, LP and QRP categories in multiple stages (combined)
