The popular AO-27 satellite just today, i.e. On September 26, 2003, he lived to his tenth birthday. Just ten years ago, it was put into orbit by the Ariane space shuttle, which took off from Korou in French Guiana. On board there is a radio amateur FM transponder with an uplink on 145.850 MHz and a downlink on 436.795 MHz.
Together with SO-35, UO-14 (both now defunct) belongs to LEO satellites also available with simple equipment - FM duobander and small antennas. The transponder is switched on occasionally.
You can get the latest information from the site of Michael Wyrick N3UC, who is the controlling operator: http://www.ao27.org, the page of the most frequently asked questions about the AO-27 is http://www.amsat.org/amsat/intro/ao27faq.html. In addition, we already wrote about the AO-27 on CQ.sk.
