On Saturday 19th of October 2024 radio amateurs and scouts from all over the world will come together again as part of a traditional event Jamboree On The Air - JOTAaJamboree On The Internet - JOTISlovak scouts will also participate in this global event this year through a special station OM8JOTA.
The station will be on the air from 11:00 to 14:00 UTC (so 13:00 to 16:00 local time CEST) from the station Košice - Heringeš, located in locator KN08PR at an altitude of approximately 330 meters.
The main focus will be on phone operation (SSB)so that participants from the ranks of scouts can experience real communication via radio waves.
Planned bands and frequencies (SSB - phone):
80m: 3.690 MHz
40m: 7.182 MHz
20m: 14.290 MHz
15m: 21.360 MHz
2m: 145.500 MHz (direct connection)
In addition, it will be possible to make contact also through OM0OVT operator - 'Téčko' on frequency 145.650 MHz.
Digital communication will also not be missing on modern platforms. OM8JOTA will be available on the network DMR, specifically in talk group 2311 and in international group 907 JOTA.
There will also be an activity on satellite QO-100so that station OM8JOTA can connect with radio amateurs and scouts from all over the world.
The aim of the event is to allow young people from the scouting movement to experience the magic of long-distance communication, learn the principles of amateur radio, and establish new friendships across continents.
All radio amateurs are warmly invited to make contact with OM8JOTA during JOTA-JOTI 2024 and thus support the idea of cooperation and friendship over the air.
