The old year 2005 has finally come to an end and the new year 2006 welcomed radio amateurs with an unprecedented rush of racing activities. Already on the first day of January, it offered six simultaneous events, which clearly signals that this year will be extremely intense for competition enthusiasts.
New formats have been added to the traditional events, rules and timetables have been adjusted, which brings a fresh wind to the usual routines. January 2006 is packed with up to 28 competition events covering all bands from 160 meters to microwave and all popular modes including CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK31 and FM. The month kicked off with the traditional ARRL Straight Key Night for classic telegraphy enthusiasts and continues with a series of national and international competitions.
