Kerkennah Island
Kerkennah is an archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea off the east coast of Tunisia, known for its rich history and peaceful, authentic atmosphere. The islands, the largest of which are Chergui and Gharbi, are only about 20 km from mainland Tunisia and belong to ITU Zone 33 and CQ zone 33, which makes them an interesting destination for radio amateurs.
Radio amateurs use Kerkennah mainly for DX connections on the KV bands, from 80 to 10 meters, with CW, SSB and digital modes being popular. Due to the relative remoteness and low population density here, signals often cover long distances with clear legibility, increasing the value of the link for DXCC and operator logs.
