One of the most traditional VHF of the autumn season is A1 contest, also known as Marconi Memorial contest, which takes place every first full weekend in November. In the year 2025 its action falls on the period from Saturday November 1st 14:00 UTC to Sunday November 2nd 14:00 UTC. The competition is dedicated to the memory of the pioneer of wireless communication Guglielmo Marconi and is intended for all fans of VKV operation in fashion CW (telegraphy).

Competitive categories
The race is announced in two categories:

144 MHz – Single Operator (individual)

144 MHz – Multi Operator
The goal of the competition is to establish the largest possible number of valid connections on the band 144 MHz. Each connection must be made exclusively in CW mode, while competition code contains:
RS(T) + sequence number of connection from 001 + WW locator (eg 599 001 JN88xx).
Scoring and calculation of the result
According to the general conditions of VKV races SZR sa 1 point counts for every kilometer of distance covered. Connection with a station in the same small square of the locator is evaluated 1 point. The total result represents sum of all points for valid connections.
