It is with deep sadness that we announce to all our friends, radio amateurs, "foxmen" and friends that a radio amateur, master of sports in fox hunting (ROB), official, long-time chairman of the Tišnov radio club, but above all a friend, has left us forever Karel Souček, OK2VH.
Karel was not only at the birth of the Tišnov radio club OK2KEA in 1955, but also with everything important that has happened since then.
From 1960 he was the responsible operator of the club station. The radio club participated in many, in particular VHF races in which Karel was always a dedicated and tireless competitor. This is also proven by several very nice locations in VKV Field days.
However, Karl was primarily attracted by sport. Especially fox hunting (now known as ROB whether ARDF) completely charmed him. He himself built receivers for competitive bands and together with other friends (at least let's mention Emil Kubes a Štěpán Konupčík) defended Czechoslovak colors at international competitions. Later - after finishing his sports career - he mainly devoted himself to work with young racers and the national team, where he worked as coach. Under his leadership, the ROB representative team achieved many significant successes, among them titles of world and European champions.
In the year 1990 was a member of the organizing committee ARDF World Championships, which took place on Strbské Pleso in the Tatras.
In the year 2004 together with Zdenek OK2BEH ensured the operation of the station OK5FOX on the occasion of the ARDF World Championships in Brno.
Karel was not just an athlete or an official. He was an excellent organizer and the soul of the radio club. Thanks to him and other members, the broadcasting center of the radio club was created on Veselí (locator JN89EJ), from where the club station still competes in VKV races.
In the year 2005 celebrated Radio Club OK2KEA 50 years of its existence – and it goes without saying that we owe it to Karl for the enormous effort he put in collecting documentation, archival materials, photographs and processing comprehensive history of the radio club from its beginnings to the present.
In recent years, his strength has weakened somewhat, mainly due to health problems, but his inner vitality still allowed him to devote himself to radio amateur operation, especially on short waves. He participated VRK races, SSB league, and when his health allowed, he also helped in the club station races.
His next plan was DIGI fashion, unfortunately, he did not manage to complete this stage. A long and insidious disease she beat him on Saturday November 22, 2008.
Who knew him please give him a silent memorial.
For the Radio Club team OK2KEA Tišnov
Petr, OK2BSY
