Palau
The Palau archipelago is a small yet extraordinarily fascinating island nation in the western part of the Pacific Ocean, in the region of Micronesia. It consists of more than 300 islands, many of which are uninhabited and covered with lush tropical vegetation. Palau is world-renowned for its crystal-clear lagoons, coral reefs, and rich marine life, making it one of the best destinations for diving and snorkeling in the world. An iconic place is the so-called Rock Islands – limestone islets rising from the turquoise sea. The country is a pioneer in nature conservation; a large partof its waters is designated as a marine reserve. Palau has a unique culture influenced by Micronesian traditions as well as historical ties to Spain, Japan, and the USA. Despite its small size, Palau offers an exceptional natural and cultural experience.
