TO8FH Mayotte
In just a few days, the operator team will go on a DX expedition to Mayotte, TO8FH. The original destination was supposed to be Guyana, but at the beginning of the year 2024 the young German team wants to go there, so they changed the plan for the first time. The new destination was to be the African Niger. However, the coup d'état on July 26 forced them to change their plan again. The new destination is Mayotte from 10. until October 22 2023.
Mayotte
Mayotte, island and overseas territory of France, is located in the Indian Ocean between Madagascar and Mozambique. This small paradise place will captivate visitors with its exotic beauty, coral reefs and clear blue lagoons. Mayotte's cultural heritage includes African influences, Arab world and France. The capital is Mamoudzou, where you can visit traditional markets and get to know the local cuisine. The people on the island are very friendly and hospitable. Mayotte offers diving opportunities, fishing, or simply to relax on the beautiful beaches. It is a real tropical paradise in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

It will always be a SPLIT operation, where it is necessary to follow the instructions of the operators. There should be a split with CW 1 – 5 kHz up, pri SSB 5 – 15 kHz up, at RTTY 3 – 10 kHz up.

FT8 : TO8FH will use the MSHV program (2 to 5 slots) for FT8 on reported frequencies. Like a DXpedition (fox) they will not use F/H mode. All hunters can call us in normal mode (with locator or report) and stay on your frequency for answering as well. Please, do not call them on the broadcast frequency TO8FH! The QSO will be recorded on our side after sending RR73 or 73.
After last year's success of satellite activity from D6ØAE, where they did 660 QSO with power only 300 mW, decided to recreate this experience from TO8FH. There has been very little satellite activity on Mayotte and to their knowledge this could be the premiere for QO-100. TO8FH will therefore be active (okolo 900) on the QO-100 satellite from LH27mc. They are also planning FT8 and CW. The device consists of a Kuhne converter on the uplink 2424 + FT817 a v downlinku z LNC10 QO-100 s 80 cm parabolou + FT857.
