The Amateur Radio Society of India (ARSI) is preparing an expedition to the "second most wanted entity" - the Laccadives. This demanding expedition involves obtaining the necessary permissions from the Indian Navy, the island administration, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Defense and many other institutions. VU7LD is therefore being prepared for December 2006.

The twenty-five-member collective of Indian radio amateurs will operate eight stations. Throughout December, VU7LD should be heard on all open bands with all modes, including lower and WARC SSB, CW and DIGI bands. QTH will be on the main island of Laccadive – Kavaratti. During the expedition, radio amateurs will also train local people interested in radio amateur operation as a preparation for obtaining their own concession.
