In the first round of the Short Listening Period (SLP1) competition, which took place on March 1-2, 2008, the measurement of listening skills SWL the audience was engaged by participants from several countries. The SLP competition is one of the traditional events for radio amateurs and listeners, where accuracy, endurance and the ability to capture as many valid connections as possible within a set time limit are evaluated. The opening round brought very interesting results, while Bill Smith (W1-7897) won the first place with a big margin. He was followed by Vladimir Ignatov (R3A-847) and Johan Heus (NL9723).
