Cocos (Keeling) Islands, located in the Indian Ocean, are a territory of Australia consisting of two atolls and 27 coral islands. They are located approx 2 750 kilometers northwest of Perth. The capital is West Island, where most of the population is located, while Home Island is home to mostly local Malays. The islands are known for their beautiful nature, white sandy beaches, crystal clear water and rich marine life, which makes them an ideal place for diving and snorkeling. The history of the islands is rich, with the influences of British colonization and Malay cultural heritage. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful environment here, exotic fauna and flora and a unique mix of cultures, which make up the unique character of Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
