During the previous regime, not only a large number of radio amateurs were prevented from broadcasting, but also their families did not escape the practices of that time. They could not travel abroad, they were eavesdropped and watched, they were reassigned to jobs that did not correspond to their qualifications, their children were prevented from studying…. This is only a small calculation of what they had to endure.
The ŠTB list of amateurs according to the so-called Cibulka's list of agents and members of the ŠTB was published long ago. It should be noted at the outset that this list differs from the result you will get if you enter the names of Slovaks into the search engine at the National Memory Institute. Persons in category D (trustee) did not have to be conscious collaborators of the ŠTB, but the secret agent certainly was, and he was also remunerated for his activity.
So I ask the question: "Is it right for persons who were conscious members of the ŠTB to hold public positions as radio amateurs?"
