      Hello,

      Advise me where to start?

      Which device should I buy?

      What should I upload there?

      Which group/network should I join?

There are many devices available on the Meshtastic website, but which one to buy? It looks interesting and I am curious about operation. I live in Senkviciach, I work in BA.

      Thank you for the answers.

      Hello.

The first nodes for Meshtastic and later Meshcore, which I bought through Aliexpress, were Heltec V3. They have a simple case and a mini antenna by default, and in this design, they are quite usable in a denser network. Of course, better antennas and filters for 868 MHz are a requirement.

Last year, we successfully densified Bratislava with Meshtastic, but this year we all gradually switched to Meshcore.

By the way, regarding certain outbursts that have occurred, I probably don't need to remind you of what a ham should or should not do, the so-called ethical code. Because the last thing I desire is to see a ham publicly embarrass and discredit themselves in front of other hams. There are other ways to vent personal frustration, but I'm already going off-topic.

      Hello.

I bought LoRa on Aliexpress, specifically Heltec V3. It comes with a wire as an antenna and a simple case, which is sufficient for a dense network, but I recommend purchasing a better antenna and filter for 868 MHz. I'm not sure if Meshtastic's website directly sells LoRa, probably not.

The question is whether to choose Meshtastic or Meshcore. We from Omega were setting up the Meshtastic network last year, but this year we all gradually switched to Meshcore and covered almost the entire Bratislava. Some people remained on Meshtastic, but honestly, I don't know how it is there now.

Regarding firmware, the latest stable version is recommended.

There are communities of people using Meshtastic, or Meshcore (or other derivatives) on social networks, so it's not difficult to come across people who can help or advise.

Exactly. Why do you use tags there? Why do you claim everything for yourself?

      Leave some space for others.

In Slovak, it's a radio amateur.

      First of all.

Secondly, there is no radio amateur on the MeshCore network because it is not an amateur radio band.

You cannot condemn a radio amateur for going to a gay bar.

My identity was published there against my will, I will not be specific. Moreover, the publication has no value because the network is anonymous. So I remained incognito.

Radio amateurs are just people. I have witnessed numerous times how they embarrass themselves, so stop glorifying them, Rado.

Operating conditions for amateur stations - https://static.slov-lex.sk/pdf/SK/ZZ/2022/291/ZZ_2022_291_20220901.pdf

Part of the PP includes tables with bands where conditions must be met. Table No. 3 - UHF, here are frequencies from 430 to 2450MHz.

The 868MHz band is not in the table because it is not allocated to amateurs.

The ISM band 868MHz is governed by VPR - 02/2022 https://www.teleoff.gov.sk/files/urad/odbory-oddelenia/odbor-spravy-frekvencneho-spektra/sprava-frekvencii-regulacia/vseobecne-povolenia/53552_zverejnenie_vpr-02_2022_n-srd.pdf

According to your logic, if I sign with my call sign in an email written over encrypted Wifi, and further encrypted https, while Wifi is also an ISM band, am I violating amateur radio PP?

Bratislava and OM3KFF are transitioning to MeshCore 868MHz - Meshtastic is no longer a priority

The Meshtastic network in Bratislava has basically stopped working, all points with a greater range have moved to the Meshcore network. Currently, there are 23 repeaters, about 10 with a greater range, and the network is still being improved.
