Karel, I would like to add to that:
As for hearing on the pass: as far as short waves are concerned, it is more or less possible to hear them from the comfort of your home. In the case of VKV and higher bands, it is good to find out when there are interruptions and climb the hill to listen. It is best 2 hours before the start, when you can catch a couple of pointer connections of the non-competitive type. (since it is a question of connections when tuning stations, they mostly contain all the findings of the pointer connections)
It is not necessary to find a radio club. I currently allow PP in Slovakia (and I know the changes don't disturb it) broadcast under the brand of any operator under his supervision. So if there isn't a suitable radio club nearby, a willing radio amateur will do.
And I would also like to draw attention to a very nice part of ON4WW, which is the most readable here (http://www.on4ww.be/op.html) in several language mutations. (Ceske postponed: OK7DM to OK1FUA; Slovakia OM3JW)
This part describes an ideal condition and one will encounter certain deviations on the pass. The most common is the use of telegraphic abbreviations in telephone traffic. It is an aid for international connections (a person only needs a few words in a foreign language) but it should not be overdone.
And one last piece of good advice: If something comes to your mind and you want to ask it on the forum, the solution to the question is to consult with a well-known radio amateur who knows the ins and outs of the current state of the radio amateur community..
