Sottens is a small village where the last medium wave transmitter in Switzerland is located. The transmitter ended its operation on December 31, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. local time. Two huge antennas, during February 2011, are now used for amateur radio purposes by the Vaudios radio club. Call sign HE3OM was chosen for the following reasons:

– the prefix HE3 was already used in 2004, when the transmitter in Sottens ceased to be used
– OM (ondes moyennes) short for medium waves in French
– OM (option musigue) last broadcast program
The highest antenna is 188 meters high, it is used for the lower bands 160m and 80m. The smaller mast is 125m high, it is used on the VLF band 137 kHz.
