The Kuwaiti nanosatellite team Orbital Space announced weekend activation of the satellite QMR-KWT-2 pri príležitosti Svetového týždňa vesmíru (World Space Week, 4.–10. októbra). Prevádzač bude aktívny 10.-11.októbra 2026. Ide o rovnaký satelit, ktorý sme si mohli otestovať pri oslave On Cosmonautics Day, April 12, 2026 – and for those who missed any passes at that time, this is another opportunity to connect via LEO orbitálnu dráhu bez toho, aby ste museli mať na streche 15-prvkový beam.

Satellite QMR-KWT-2 (RS95S)
QMR-KWT-2 is a 1U CubeSat launched into low Earth orbit (LEO). It is operated by Orbital Space, and its mission is education, popularization of cosmonautics, and making satellite operation accessible to the amateur radio community. It is listed in the SatNOGS database under NORAD ID KXQQ-3629-0199-1434-6296. The satellite carries an active FM transponder and regularly transmits SSTV images and GMSK telemetry.
Technical parameters
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Call sign | RS95S |
| Uplink (FM voice) | 145.920 MHz + CTCSS 67.0 Hz |
| Downlink | 436.950 MHz |
| Downlink modes | FM voice, SSTV, GMSK Telemetry |
Practical operating instructions

Na úspešné QSO cez FM transpondér stačí dvojpásmové rádio with CTCSS support and a simple directional antenna – for example a handheld yagi alebo 3-element beam for 2 m / 70 cm. High power is not necessary; overloading the satellite's input receiver at high power will have the opposite effect. On the downlink at 70 cm, expect a Doppler shift of ±10 kHz throughout the entire pass – at the beginning of the pass, tune higher, at the end lower. Those with full-duplex capability can monitor their own signal in real-time and continuously adjust the frequency.
To receive SSTV, any receiver on 436.950 MHz and software like MMSSTV (Windows) or Robot36 (Android) is sufficient. SSTV images from the satellite do not require any uplink – just be within range and record audio from the scanner. This is an ideal activity for SWL listeners or for beginners who do not yet have duplex capability. You can send the decoded image to the Orbital Space team as proof of successful reception.
Telemetriu vo formáte GMSK you can decode and upload to the SatNOGS database. Each uploaded frame helps the team monitor the satellite's health and is a meaningful contribution, even if you don't manage an FM connection. Just SDR a receiver, Gqrx or SDR# and the SatNOGS client.
Flight predictions for your location are generated by applications like Heavens-Above, Orbitron alebo Gpredict – enter the NORAD ID of the satellite and set the minimum elevation to at least 10°, ideally 20° or more. Passes with a maximum elevation below 15° are short and geometrically unfavorable; it pays to wait for a better pass.
