Novoročný VERON/NLC contest, ktorý sa konal 2. januára 2005, privítal desiatku poslucháčov prevažne z Beneluxu a strednej Európy. Súťaž, tradične organizovaná holandskou organizáciou VERON, poskytla poslucháčom možnosť otestovať svoje schopnosti hneď v úvode nového roka.
Dutch listener Rob den Boer (NL10018) won by a narrow margin with 283 points, just ahead of Belgian operator Paul Lemeiro (ONL3058) who scored 279 points. The bronze position was taken by another Dutchman Jan Mandos (NL997) with 231 points, thus confirming the strong domestic representation.
The Czech-Slovak participation was represented by Lubomír Studenec (OK1-35872) in fifth place with 99 points, which is a remarkable result in the strong competition of experienced listeners. The participation of the Swedish listener Lars Åström (JY/SM7-8190), who participated from Jordan, is interesting.
The results confirmed the high level of the listening community in the Benelux and the growing interest in this traditional New Year's race.
