Tension, precision and perfect technique - that's how this year could be characterized Microwave Race 2006, which once again showed that Slovak radio amateurs are among the best in Europe. On the bands from 1.3 GHz to 10 GHz, it was fought not only for kilometers, but also for every decibel of power and every point to the final score.
In the category 1.3 GHz Multi dominated the team OM0C with a power of 50 W and a 2.3 m dish, which fought its way to the station IQ1KW 919 km away! An incredible number that testifies to excellent tactics and conditions on the strip. On 2.3 GHz OM0C confirmed his form and won here as well – the gain of 5430 points only underlines his dominance in microwave disciplines.
On 10 GHz Single prevailed OM3ID, who, with his 160 W transmitter and 0.75 m dish, was able to cover a distance of 295 km to link with OK1KKL, recording no error in the log. In the Multi category, 10 GHz scored again OM0C, which confirmed its technical and operational maturity.
What about the lower bands? On 23 cm clearly won OM5CM, which with 10 W and 55-el antenna F9FT achieved a connection of 606 km!
