Radio amateur expedition 5X2I Uganda 2025 will take place between 29 September and 10 October 2025, again in Uganda from beautiful QTH by the shore of Lake Victoria. The expedition's license has already been successfully renewed and it will broadcast from the same location from which HA5AO broadcast in 2023.

Location and location benefits
Shipping QTH is located in Kalanoga Resort, Busabala, near Kampala in the locator KJ60hf. The critical advantage of this location is the favorable "take-off" - the antennas will have open directions over the lake, which ensures good connections to Europe (EU), Japan (JA), Oceania (VK/ZL) and also favorable propagation to North and South America (NA/SA).

Station and antenna equipment 5X2I
The following equipment will be used at the station:
-
Yaesu FT-710 as the primary transceiver
-
Elecraft KPA-500 as a linear amplifier
-
Elecraft KAT-500 as an antenna tuner
-
He will provide the power supply Astron 13.8 V / 30 A source
-
Logging software: N1MM+
The antenna equipment will form Hustler 6BTV vertical antenna covering bands 80 to 10 meters, with additional kits for 17 m and 12 m bands.
Frequencies and operating mode
The expedition will work on frequencies according to the plans: for CW, SSB and FT8. Mode is in use split – it is transmitted at higher frequencies than the receiving frequency.
Details for individual bands and offsets are:
-
CW – UP 2-5 kHz
-
SSB – UP 5-10 kHz
-
FT8 – F/H mode (MSHV should not be used)
-
FT8 on 6 m – in "normal" mode
-
Attention: with FT8 do not call below 1000 Hz difference (due to MSHV)

QSL politika a logovanie
-
Diaries will be uploaded daily to Logbook of The World (LoTW).
-
QSL lístky budú zasielané direkt, týždenne. Upload na LoTW bude realizovaný do 72 hodín (bežne do 24 hodín).
-
Users can use OQRS (Online QSL Request System):
-
Direct QSL Ticket: .00
-
Express LotW (no physical card): .50
-
-
Do not send QSLs through the bureau, do not use digital QSL by email - these messages will be ignored or deleted.
-
Kompletný log bude nahratý na LoTW až 6 mesiacov po skončení expedície.
-
Ak spojenie chýba vo verejne dostupnom logu, je povolené použiť funkcionalitu Log Check Request cez OQRS, ale neodosielať potom hneď žiadosť o QSL, kým nebude log opravený.
Uganda
Uganda, often called the "Pearl of Africa", is a landlocked country in East Africa, bordering Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The capital is Kampala and the official languages are English and Swahili. The country has an area of approximately 241,000 km² and more than 48 million inhabitants live here.
Uganda is known for its diverse nature - it is home to Lake Victoria, the largest lake in Africa, from which the White Nile flows. Here we find savannas, tropical rainforests and mountain ranges with an altitude of over 5,000 meters, such as the Rwenzori. The rich fauna includes elephants, lions, mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, which makes Uganda a popular destination for ecotourism.
The country's economy is mainly based on agriculture, coffee, tea, bananas and cotton are grown. In recent years, the importance of tourism and the extraction of mineral resources has been growing.
Uganda is a member of the African Union and the United Nations. Despite historical problems, such as the regime of Idi Amin, today it is one of the more stable countries in the region and is a sought-after destination for travelers and radio amateurs.
Summary and additional notes
Expedition 5X2I Uganda 2025 je ambiciózny projekt, ktorý kombinuje osvedčené miesto, kvalitný technický setup a moderné metódy logovania a distribúcie QSL. Smery nad jazero Viktória a výhodná poloha značia, že mnohé stovky až tisícky rádioamatérov budú mať možnosť vyskúšať spojenie s Uganda pri priaznivých podmienkach.
Odporúčam sledovať log search & OQRS stránky HA5AO, lebo tam budú denníky a možnosť kontrolovať svoje spojenia. Expedičný tím očakáva bohatú aktivitu na pásmach CW, SSB a FT8 s možnosťou získať zaujímavé QSL.
