Už o pár hodín začína CQ WW RTTY contest 2012. Začína v sobotu 29.septembra o 00.00UT a končí v nedeľu 30.septembra o 24.00UT. Súťaží sa len RTTY v pásmach 80-10m v kategóriách SO (QRP, LOW, HIGH) a MO (LOW, HIGH). Vymieňaný kód je zložený z RST and CQ zones, US and VE stations also add the state abbreviation, or province.
There are 3 points for a connection with a station on another continent, 2 points for a connection on your own continent but not your own country, and 1 point for a connection within your own country. There are three types of multipliers:
1, one multiplier for each different contacted zone on each band
2, one multiplier for each different ground contacted on each band
3, one multiplier for each different US state or VE province contacted
