EchoLink ® software allows radio amateurs to communicate with each other via the Internet using VoIP (voice-over IP) technology. The program allows connections between stations around the world or from a computer to a station, which greatly contributes to the wide possibilities of use. ...For radio amateurs with a valid license, EchoLink® software opens up new possibilities for communication with other radio amateurs from all over the world. Your computer connects you or your local transmitter to any of the thousands of HAM stations on the Internet.
There are several different ways EchoLink can be used. You can set up a "simplex line" at your home, for example, by connecting a VHF or UHF radio station to your computer, thus allowing anyone within range of your station to communicate via EchoLink with any other station in the world.
Or you can just use the PC microphone, speakers and just be connect to almost any of the more than 2,000 HAM converters in the world.
The program keeps updating the list of stations that are currently connected in EchoLink. The list can be arranged as you wish. You can also set an unlimited number of "alarms" that will notify you when the station you choose is connected.
