At the end of September 2025 an interesting DX expedition to Kyrgyzstan. Operator Maxim OH7O (recently XW4YY) plans to transmit with callsign EX/OH7O and will provide the opportunity to make connections with this relatively rare country for DX station hunters.
Date and location
The expedition will start evening of 27th September 2025 and will last until noon of 30th September 2025. The station will operate from locator MN82me, which is located in the central part of Kyrgyzstan. This timeframe will provide operators with three nights and two full days to make connections on multiple bands and modes.

Used modes and bands
EX/OH7O will be active on SSB, CW and FT8, covering the interest of traditional operators as well as digital enthusiasts. Planned bands are:
40 m
20 m
17 m
15 m
12 m
10 m
Thanks to the wide selection of bands, the station should be well audible at different times of the day and depending on current propagation conditions.
Antennas and equipment
The transmitting setup will be simple yet effective, adapted for portable operation:
Moxon antennas for 10 m and 15 m band - homemade, light and suitable for quick assembly.
Verticals with elevated radials for 12 m, 17 m, 20 m and 40 m band.
Transceiver Icom IC-7300, proven and reliable transceiver with modern features.
PA (500 W) the solid-state construction to create a stronger signal, which will improve the chances of DX connections.
Human side of the expedition
The operator will not travel alone - his XYL will also join (wife) and a group of friends from Kyrgyzstan who use the call sign UN/This indicates a pleasant combination of amateur radio activity and exploring the country, with space for tourism or getting to know the local culture during the expedition.
What to expect
The main goal of EX/OH7O will be to provide as many connections as possible, especially to those who do not yet have Kyrgyzstan confirmed in DXCC program. Thanks to the use of CW, SSB and FT8, the expedition will be accessible to a wide range of radio amateurs.
Considering the date, you can expect interesting propagation conditions, especially on higher bands like 10m and 15m, which could bring quality openings to Europe and North America with sufficient solar activity.
