This meteor shower is one of the most interesting showers from a radio amateur point of view. Swarm activity is lower compared to stronger swarms, but station activity is higher. Expeditions and World Championship races contribute to this. What should we prepare for?
The swarm will be active from December 7 to 17, 2016, with a predicted maximum on the night of December 13 to 14. Expected ZHR is 100-120. The swarm consists of a number of small parts flying through the atmosphere at a speed of 35 km/s. However, in the width of the maximum, the forecasts differ greatly, from a few to tens of hours.

If the cloudy sky is not against it, it will be possible to observe the Geminids with the naked eye, and the most suitable will be the nights of December 12th and 15th around two o'clock in the morning, as the Moon will interfere with light observations.
