At the end of September, a new amateur radio beacon was officially commissioned in northeastern Poland SR4PZM, which works in the band 2 meters (144.450 MHz). The members of the club were responsible for its creation SP4PZM from the city Bialystok, under the leadership of Rafał SQ4O, the head of the department OT-17 of the Polish Union of Radio Amateurs (PZK).
The beacon was placed in a locator KO13OD, in altitude 185 meters and approx 40 meters above the ground. It serves as an important reference point for radio amateurs in the region and in neighboring countries dedicated to the VHF band and long-distance signal propagation.
The device was constructed on the basis of FTL-2011 and broadcasts by performance 8 W in fashion A1A (CW). A temporary one is used during the tests antenna system 2 × 10 elements yagi SP8BRQ, directed at azimuth 290°, which allows effective coverage towards the west and southwest. After the tests, the lighthouse will be used omnidirectional antenna X-dipole with horizontal polarization that they designed and made Rafał SQ4O a Grzegorz SQ4G.
He prepared the technical part of the broadcast chain Andrzej SP8XXN, who is also the author of the construction of the lighthouse itself. The installation of the antenna system and final installation work on the roof was provided by the team from the SP4PZM club in Białystok.
The SR4PZM beacon was thus included among the modern Polish beacons, which contribute to a better understanding of the propagation conditions on the 144 MHz band and allow DX enthusiasts to verify the quality of the connection in real time. Thanks to its location and performance, it will be a useful signal for radio amateurs in Poland, the Baltic countries, Belarus, but also in parts of Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
