Youth Field Day 2004 – OM station

This year's Youth Field Day 2004 brought a good dose of competition, technical challenges and enthusiasm of young radio amateurs to the 144 MHz band. Slovak participants showed that even with limited performance they can achieve excellent results and gain valuable experience from real operation in the field.

In the category SINGLE Op won the victory sovereignly OM2AAA from JN87WV Locator, ktorý so 100-wattovým výkonom a zostavou 4×17-element Antenna F9FT achieved 39 connections and total profit 7231 points. Najdlhšie spojenie uskutočnil so stanicou DL2SAX at a distance 549 km, čo je v kontexte mládežníckej kategórie vynikajúci výkon.

In the category MULTI Op a dramatic battle for the championship took place until the last connection. In the end, the collective team won OM3CHAP from JN98HP Locator, ktorý z nadmorskej výšky 1434 m achieved 6875 points a 45 connections. Len o niečo menej bodov získali OM3KII (6332 points) a OM3KHE (5573 points), which demonstrated reliable teamwork and precise technique.

In bands 432 MHz Slovak stations did not participate this time, but the organizer used up to 46 newspapers from the Czech Republic, čo svedčí o výbornom prepojení a spolupráci medzi mladými rádioamatérmi oboch krajín.
