Youth Field Day 2004 – OM station

This year's Youth Field Day 2004 brought a good dose of competition, technical challenges and enthusiasm of young radio amateurs to the 144 MHz band. Slovak participants showed that even with limited performance they can achieve excellent results and gain valuable experience from real operation in the field.

In the category SINGLE Op won the victory sovereignly OM2AAA from JN87WV locator, which with 100-watt power and assembly 4×17-element antenna F9FT achieved 39 connections and total profit 7231 points. He made the longest connection with the station DL2SAX at a distance 549 km, which is an excellent performance in the context of the youth category.

In the category MULTI Op a dramatic battle for the championship took place until the last connection. In the end, the collective team won OM3KAP from JN98HP locator, which reached from an altitude of 1434 m 6875 points a 45 connections. They only got a little less points OM3KII (6332 points) a OM3KHE (5573 points), which demonstrated reliable teamwork and precise technique.

In bands 432 MHz Slovak stations did not participate this time, but the organizer used up to 46 newspapers from the Czech Republic, which testifies to the excellent connection and cooperation between young radio amateurs of both countries.
