PstRotator The client is a mobile application for Android designed to control the program PstRotator using the phone. It is particularly practical when setting up, servicing, or checking the antenna system when the radio amateur is directly at the antenna and needs to change its direction without returning to the computer. The application communicates with PstRotator via the protocol Hamlib.

Setting up PstRotator Client

On the computer running PstRotator, you need to activate the Rotctld Hamlib Server in the Setup menu. In the Communication → Rotctld Server Setup item, you can check or change the used port. PstRotator Client then requests the IP address of the computer with PstRotator and the port number in the application settings.
After pressing the Connect button, the application retrieves the current position of the antenna, if provided by the used rotator controller. The direction can be selected using presets and then the rotation can be started with the Start button. By long-pressing a preset, the current position can be saved, and the values of four quick presets can be changed. In the settings, the rotation step can be adjusted and elevation control can be turned off.
Control via the internet
PstRotator Client does not have to remain limited to the local Wi-Fi network. When accessing from the outside, according to SQ1GU documentation, it is possible to use the public IP address of the computer instead of the local address and to make the corresponding port available on the router. Thus, the phone can connect to PstRotator even outside the home network.
It is an interesting solution, for example, for a remotely located antenna system or when setting up the rotator during maintenance work. PstRotator itself also supports its own network control and remote control via TCP/IP.
Google Play PstRotator Client

PstRotator Client is available in the store Google Play. The current application page lists the developer SQ1GU and the last update from October 5, 2025.
PstRotator Client is a simple add-on to PstRotator, whose main advantage is moving the basic control of the rotator from the computer directly to the phone. With properly configured network communication, it can be useful both locally and for remote operation of the antenna system.
