Greetings to all radio amateurs and especially fans SOTA program. It's been a year since we've had Peaks and Hills on the air, so I can't help but evaluate my work in this new activity in Slovakia. Considering I've been busy building a new one QTH, so my work was not as I would have imagined, but I still evaluate the year of SOTA activity as very instructive and very stimulating.
I visited many interesting places, mostly alone, but once in a while I was accompanied by my family, or Michal OM8ASK, to whom I owe the first historical QSO SOTA on the air from Slovakia, and we had a few activations together with Martin OM8KT.
- SOTA is a program that ideally combines tourism, radio engineering and radio operation,
- technique / construction of portable antennas
- operation / pile-up ... you will experience feelings similar to participants in expeditions and world contests
- hiking / you will visit interesting places.
Áno, to všetko sa dá počas aktivácií SOTA zažiť. I recorded a few activations on camera, so if you're interested, you can watch a video of the peaks that I climbed on foot, on snowshoes or skis. (I was also planning a bicycle, but somehow it didn't work out for me yet - maybe next time.)
Considering that the SOTA program is the activation of the peaks, it was nothing special when I met deer, roe deer, snakes, wild boar on my walks - so it was very close, chamois, a pack of 6 wolves on the Polish border - I didn't care about everything there and quickly threw my SOTA backpack on the ground ... unfortunately the camera was at the bottom and so I didn't record anything ... maybe next time.
From working in the program, I gave a lecture at a meeting of radio amateurs in Košice, where there was an introduction to the program and statistics of individual stations, their mutual comparison within the broadcast bands.
Winter is finally coming and that's the time I like for such activities, so I hope my skis haven't rusted in the garage and soon it will snow and I'm looking forward to a possible QSO with you on the air in the SOTA program... hello sota CQ sota OM0AM sota program… 73 i1 I am attaching a table of SOTA activators that you can often hear on the air from peak and hill activations.
